League Structure & Scoring:
The player(s) listed 1st on the match schedule shall
bring a can of new tennis balls. Round robin format, no-add scoring.
A 3rd set 10-point match tiebreak will be played in lieu of a 3rd
set. Matches have a 90 min time limit.
Player check-in:
Players are to check in at the reception
desk 10 minutes prior to every match time to receive court assignments prior to
play and to let us know that you are here. No player substitutions
will be allowed, you must play your own matches.
Reporting score:
Match winners are to report scores immediately following the match.
Players may do so by coming up to the front desk, using the phone in the
players lounge, telephone the front desk 480-350-5711, or by emailing them to
Jackie. Scores not reported within 7 days will be counted as a loss to both
players.
Scoring System: The player(s) with
the most match wins will be declared the champion(s). In the event there is
a tie, the champion(s) will be settled as follows:
1.
Head-to-Head. Winner of the head-to-head match played previously between
the two players or team in question.
2.
Sets. Loser of the fewest number of sets.
3.
Games. Loser of the fewest number of games.
Match results will be updated weekly for viewing on-line or see the league
book located at the KRC Reception Desk.
Match Rescheduling & Communication:
Rescheduling is discouraged. Only one reschedule will be
allowed per person per league season. Rescheduling rules are as follows:
·
It is the responsibility of the player(s) needing to reschedule to
contact their opponent(s) at least a week prior to the match, if possible.
·
The match must also be played no later than 7 days after the original
date.
·
Failure to reach an agreed rescheduling time shall result in a loss to
the player or team responsible.
· Complimentary
courts are no longer provided after the first reschedule. The player or team
responsible for the reschedule will pay the normal court fee. Rescheduled
matches must be reported to
jackie_cerda@tempe.gov
Lateness & Defaults: Players have a 15
minute "grace" period to show up and check in at the reception desk after the
originally scheduled match time. Players who check in after the 15 minute
default time receive 0 points; however, the match may still be played for fun if
agreeable to the opponent(s).
No-Shows, Defaults, and Refunds:
Please, as a courtesy to your opponent(s), and to maintain the integrity of the
league, AVOID NO SHOWS. It should be noted that
two no-shows by a player or team during a league session will result in
the player or team being defaulted from the league. The player or team will not
be allowed to register for the following league session.
No refunds or credits once a league has started.
Rainouts & Inclement Weather: When league
matches are rained out, you and your opponent have until the end of the current
league to make the match up. If the match is not made up by then it will be
marked as “match never played”. Please call the front desk to reschedule or
contact Jackie. If weather is questionable, call KRC at 480-350-5711 to find
out if you are playing. A decision will be made one hour in advance of match
starting time. If rain interrupts play, and the match is completed on a
different date, the match will resume with the same score when interrupted.
Additional rules
for unsanctioned matches:
All league participants are responsible for reviewing and adhering to the
Kiwanis Recreation Center Tennis (KRC) League rules. For rule and case scenario
decisions beyond KRC League Rules, refer to International Tennis Federation (ITF).
