Maricopa Community College District
Headquartered in Tempe, these twelve
colleges in Maricopa County offer six degrees programs, including Associate
in Arts (AA); Associate in Science (AS); Associate in Applied Science (AAS);
Associate in Business (ABus); Associate in General Studies (AGS); and
Associate in Transfer Partnership (ATP). Certificates of Completion are
offered in diverse occupational areas. At the end of an academic year, the
colleges award more than 4,000 degrees and 10,000 certificates. This college
is nationally recognized for providing courses tailored to area businesses.
Rio Salado College
A two-year college, Rio Salado offers
programs in general education designed to get students ready for a major
university. Rio Salado College is known as the college without walls because
it holds classes in so many locations throughout the metropolitan area.
University of Phoenix
More than 100 campuses nationwide,
University of Phoenix provides bachelor and masters degrees in business,
technology, education, nursing, health care, management, counseling, and
criminal justice, among others. This university primarily serves working
adults.
Collins College
Operating for more than 20 years,
Collins College specializes in training graphic designers and computer
animation experts. Degree programs include Visual Communication, Graphic
Design, Multimedia, Web Page Design, Computer Graphics, Animation, Computer
Network Technology, Game Design, and Media Arts, Film and HDTV and Motion
Graphics and Visual FX. It is one of the nation’s largest schools of its
kind.
Lamson Junior College
Certifications for those interested in
business, legal studies, accounting, or the medical field are available at
Lamson College. This school trains paralegals, medical assistants and other
support staff. Conveniently located on Scottsdale Road, just north of ASU
and Loop 202 in Tempe, Lamson College has day and evening programs. The
college has been training workers since 1889.
