Free Tax Preparation

Tempe Schools Credit Union will host the Initiative’s free tax preparation and electronic filing services at its location at 2800 South Mill Avenue in Tempe.  Free tax preparation for eligible individuals and families will be offered by volunteer tax preparers through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program on Saturdays from 9AM – 12 PM from January 26 – April 12, 2008. The site will be closed March 15, 2008 for Spring Break.  Spanish translators will be available.  This site is wheel chair accessible.

Bring Both Account Numbers.

Eligibility
To be eligible for free tax preparation and electronic filing, married couples and families must have an annual income of $55,000 or less for 2007. Single individuals must have an annual income of $35,000 or less for 2007.

Types of Returns Prepared at Tempe Schools Credit Union site
Federal & state such as Forms 1040, and 1040EZ and related Schedules such as A, B and C-EZ.   Past year returns for 2006, 2005 and 2004.

What You MUST Bring With You to the Tax Preparation Visit
Forms W-2 from every place you worked in 2007.
Forms 1099, if applicable
Social Security cards for yourself and all dependents
Picture Identification
A copy of last year’s tax return
Information for all deductions and credits
Checking and Savings Account numbers for direct deposit
