Chrysalis Shelter programs assist individuals and families in breaking an intergenerational cycle of domestic violence.   This is accomplished through prevention and education.  Chrysalis operates two crisis shelters, a transitional shelter and outpatient programs including services for victims and offenders.

 

City of Tempe - Homeless Coordination

The Homeless Coordinator position was created in 2002. The Homeless Coordinator serves as a problem-solver and resource source for all issues related to homelessness in Tempe. The Homeless Coordinator participates in Continuum of Care activities that bring federal funding into the region including facilitating the annual Homeless Street Count in Tempe. The Homeless Coordinator oversees the City of Tempe Homeless Outreach Program Effort (HOPE). HOPE staff reaches out to homeless individuals and families in Tempe and engages them into services. The Homeless Outreach Caseworkers transport the individuals and families they serve to needed resources and stay with them through the process of accessing those resources. In partnership with the Tempe Community Action Agency, the Homeless Coordinator plans for and implements quarterly Project Homeless Connect events that bring together multiple community entities for one day in one place to provide immediate services to homeless individuals and families.

The mission of Communities in Schools is to promote community relationships to encourage young people to stay in school and prepare for life. CIS serves as a broker of services to local public schools.  The agency assists with identifying the needs of individual schools and locating existing community resources to help address those needs.  Funds raised by the board are used to sponsor programs in the areas of early literacy, family support, health and wellness, mental health, and violence prevention.  CIS’s target beneficiaries are students enrolled in any of the Tempe and Kyrene schools, their families, faculty, staff and administration of these schools.
