The agency provides dedicated care, life skill instruction, early intervention services, residential services, transportation, and jobs. Each year, the Tempe-based community service alleviates barriers to independence, increases dignity and quality of life for participants, and helps 850 disabled individuals of all ages grow toward their full potential. The agency assists homeless people in attaining self-sufficiency, through advocacy and provision of appropriate shelter and services. Services are provided to approximately 400 single adults and 30 families with children.

The Center provides temporary shelter in a nurturing environment for children whose well being is in jeopardy. The agency seeks to empower and strengthen families, and facilitates change through community education.	Chrysalis Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Inc. CIS serves as a broker of services to local public schools. The agency assists with identifying the needs of individual schools and locating existing community resources to help address those needs. Funds raised by the board are used to sponsor programs in the areas of early literacy, family support, health and wellness, mental health, and violence prevention. CIS’s target beneficiaries are students enrolled in any of the Tempe and Kyrene schools, their families, faculty, staff and administration of these schools. An 84 bed transitional program serving the communities of Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, and Gilbert. The EVMC serves or facilitates services for homeless men who are committed to getting off the streets and back in the social and economic mainstream.

NewTowN CDC helps first time homebuyers prepare for homeownership, assists in job training and promotes asset development through Individual Development Accounts, (IDAs). The agency works within communities to promote civic participation, leadership and a sense of ownership through community planning, mediation, advocacy and providing services and information. All clients receive case management. TSA's Emmaus Project offers intensive case management to homeless people and provides food, hygiene products, bus tickets, blankets and other supplies that meet basic needs.

These services help clients achieve economic self-sufficiency and emotional stability. Services include emergency and transitional shelter, domestic violence education and support, case management, employment coordination, prevention programs, community education and victim advocacy.	Tempe Community Action Agency, Inc. The Community Action Program provides emergency aid, food boxes, homeless prevention, and employment services. The agency provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services with the intent of reaching the maximum number of youth ages 11 - 22. Their objective is to help homeless, at-risk families to become self-sufficient and independent. This is accomplished by the provision of food and shelter, together with a continuum of services that will help families reach self-sufficiency.

YWCA programs serve the hungry, homeless, disabled; and at-risk population of any age. In 1989 the YWCA opened Haven House for homeless women and their children.
