As approved by Tempe voters, effective July 1st, the Tempe privilege and use tax rate increased to 2.0%.  Please refer to Ordinance 2010.20.  This increase does not affect sales of food for home consumption or construction contracting.  The increase is for a four year period and will expire June 30, 2014.

 

 

The Transient Lodging tax increased from 3% to 5% also on July 1st.  Tempe voters approved this increase on March 9, 2010.   Please refer to Ordinance 2010.10.

The City Council recently approved several changes to the Tempe Tax Code to bring it into compliance with the Model City Tax Code.  Please refer to Ordinance 2010.09.

July 2010 Statistical Report
 

The Tempe privilege (sales) tax rate is 2.0% effective 7/1/10.

The combined State, County, and City tax rate is 9.3% effective 7/1/10.

All persons applying for business license as an Individual, Sole Proprietor or Husband & Wife business, must provide evidence of their legal right to be in the United States in compliance with A.R.S. 41-1080, also known as the “Legal Arizona Workers Act".
