The mission of
Volunteers In Policing is to expand and enhance the services that Tempe
Police Department provides to the citizens of Tempe. There are
more than 130 volunteers involved in every bureau in the police
department.Volunteers In Policing was created to provide the Tempe
community with the most efficient and effective Police Department. Volunteers
provide the opportunity for the Department to expand and enhance services to the
community. Whether you are seeking a creative outlet, a way to make
new friends, or an opportunity to become involved in your community, Tempe
Police Department offers a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers. Volunteers In Policing are rewarded with the special pride
and personal growth that comes from helping others. They are involved in every
division in the police department.
All volunteers
must pass a background check and polygraph and commit to four hours of
volunteering per week. VIPs are a tremendous asset to the police
department, bringing a broad range of skills and experience. There
is no age limit to volunteering.
Tempe Police
Department's Volunteers In Policing program is a model used throughout
the U.S. and abroad. Visitors have come from near and far to learn
more about this successful program.
You can be a VIP!
