If you are selected to move forward in the hiring process, you will be contacted by a Background Investigator who will schedule a Background Interview.

During this interview, the Investigator will review your Background Questionnaire and address any concerns that may arise.

The Background Investigation may take several weeks or months to complete. During this part of the process, the Background Investigator will conduct a very thorough check into your criminal history, driving record, work history, past drug use and credit. The Background Investigator will also contact personal references, previous employers, family, co-workers, and neighbors.

During this process, it is highly recommended that you continue to improve your physical fitness to prepare for the rigors of the academy. The Background Investigator will suggest, during this stage, that you go on some ride-alongs with police officers to learn more about what a career in law enforcement is about.
