The Tempe Police Department  Bomb Squad responds to all incidents in which an explosive device, a suspected explosive device, or military ordnance is involved.  The Bomb Squad trains a minimum of 16 hours a month and keeps abreast of the latest threats and methods of defeating them.

The Bomb Squad has access to equipment necessary to render safe suspected explosive devices, including a bomb disposal robot.  The bomb disposal robot enables bomb technicians to diagnose suspected packages and situations from a safe distance.
