Tempe Police - Bike Squad

The Tempe Police Department Bike Squad consists of approximately 12 Officers and 2 Sergeants responsible for the downtown Tempe area, Rio Salado Parkway and Tempe Town Lake.  The Officers and Sergeants chosen for this specialty squad receive in-service training on bike tactics, riding skills, and issues specific to the downtown area such as traffic management and crowd control.

The Bike Squad functions as a regular patrol unit and reacts to any on-view criminal activity as well as any calls for service.  The Bike Squad also conducts classes to educate businesses and restaurants regarding Arizona State Liquor Laws and crime prevention issues.  The Bike Squad also utilizes additional patrol resources such as marine units for Tempe Town Lake and All-Terrain vehicles for park areas and trails.
