Tempe Police Seeking Public’s Assistance

On Saturday September 19, 2009 at approximately 3:00 PM, an unidentified white male suspect grabbed and groped a teenage girl who was walking in the area of College Ave and Baseline Rd.  The girl was able to break free from the suspect and was not injured in this incident.  The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival and has not been identified or located.

The Tempe Police Department is strongly encouraging members of the community to come forward and provide any information that may be helpful to investigators in this matter in identifying and locating the person responsible for this crime.  Anyone with information can call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

The Tempe Police Department would also like to remind the community at large to be mindful of their personal safety and provide some tips that can reduce your chances of being victimized.

·        Be aware of your surroundings.

·        Walk with a companion when possible

·        Have a charged cell phone with you should you need to call for help

·        Trust your instincts – If you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, find a safe place.

·        Report anything suspicious to your local Law Enforcement Agencies.
