The complex was
dedicated in honor of P. Ben Arredondo’s 16 years of
service as a member of
the Tempe City Council and for his longtime support of
youth, education and sports. Arredondo, a former high
school teacher, coach and Tempe Elementary School
District Governing Board member, has been recognized
with numerous awards and honors for his commitment to
youth and the Hispanic community.
Built in 2005, the P. Ben Arredondo Sports Complex includes ball
fields, soccer fields, a dog park and a 30,000 square
foot skatepark with two bowls and multiple "street
style" ramps.
In 2001, the ball fields were renamed "Dawson Fields"
in honor of Duane Dawson, former Parks and Recreation
Manager.
