The
Tempe Involving the Public (TIP) Manual was developed by the City
of Tempe to maximize public input and engagement in planning activities. The
target audience for the Manual includes residents, developers, and city
staff. The goal of the manual is to provide guidance in designing and
implementing a public involvement program for a variety of projects. The level
of public involvement will depend on the type of project but can range between
just informing the public; asking for feedback; opening a two-way dialogue;
engaging the public in decisions made during each step of the project; and
giving the public authority to make decisions that will be ratified by the City.
