Charles H. Merritt owned this property in 1948. It is located in the Birchett Tract,
which was subdivided from the original block 14 in Tempe in March of 1940 by Joseph T.
Birchett and Guess E. Birchett; the older houses here date from the original subdivision.
This building is a typical example of the Bungalow style with its gable roof; braces at
the eaves; large double-hung windows on the front facade and raised floor elevation. This
building provides a positive contribution to the historic character of the neighborhood.
