This frame and clapboard house replaced an earlier house that burned in 1925. It was owned by Susanna Petersen, widow of prominent Tempe farmer Niels Petersen. Her nephew, Edwin Decker, built the cottage as a rental property. Frank and Mary Empey owned the house from 1930 to 1939. It had a hipped gable roof with jerkinheads on the gable ends, and a recessed front porch. The house was demolished about 1984.
