Downtown redevelopment and the expansion of Arizona State University has brought the demolition of many of Tempe's finest historic buildings. Since the original Tempe Historic Property Survey was completed in 1982, close to half of the identified buildings and structures have been torn down.

Listed below are just a few of the historic structures that have been lost in the past 25 years.

HPS-112 Curt W. Miller House 116 W. 4th Street (demolished)
HPS-115 Cosner/Ensign House 114 W. 7th Street (demolished)
HPS-128 Wetmore Ranch 48th Street & Baseline (demolished)
HPS-139 J. D. Cooper Saloon 202 W. 5th Street (demolished)
HPS-143 Frame House 25 E. 6th Street (demolished)
HPS-144 B. B. Moeur Rental Cottage 31 E. 6th Street (demolished)
HPS-150 Tempe Cotton Exchange 710 S. Ash (demolished)
HPS-227 Ash Avenue Bridge Ash Avenue at the Salt River (demolished)
