SCOPE: Slides of businesses, neighborhoods, recreation sites, public
institutions, public events, and people in Tempe and surrounding cities. Slides
of maps and historic photographs are included.
CONTENT: Slides of contemporary Tempe and surrounding areas, 1984-1985;
slides of historic photos dating 1870-1920.
COLLECTION DESCRIPTION: Mary Ann Kwilosz and Glenda C. Miwa used these
slides during the 1980s for presentations as part of their business, Arenda
Meeting Planners, Ltd. The slides offered a visual representation of
historic and contemporary Tempe (and surrounding areas) to prospective clients
who planned to relocate businesses to Tempe, or to schedule meetings or events
in Tempe. The slides also served as part of the orientation process for
the new business employees unfamiliar with the Tempe area. The slides
cover a wide range of subjects: Tempe and Arizona history, neighborhoods and
housing, businesses, hospitals, schools, recreation sites, city government
institutions, churches, public activities, political figures, and the airport.
