This property is located in a state school section. This is land that was given to Arizona at statehood to be used to support public schools, either by lease of the land or by selling it. The land in this section was first subdivided into approximate five to ten acre parcels in 1919. Lands in this area was first leased, and later sold. Some of the larger parcels were subsequently subdivided into smaller parcels. Construction dates of buildings do not always match acquisition dates because the parcels were leased before they were sold. This property was sold by the State to T. F. Lamar on March 31, 1930. 1946 and 1947 city directories show that this property was occupied by Walter Ehrhardt.

This building is an example of a National Folk house built later than its typical era. The lack of detailing found on this building reflects both the style of architecture as well as the character of other homes found along Roosevelt Street. This building provides a positive contribution to the historic character along the east side of Roosevelt Street.
