This house was owned by Fenn J. Harris, 1940-1948. It is located in the Gage Addition,
which was platted in April of 1909 by the Tempe Land and Improvement Company. This home is
an example of later infill construction in a developed area. Many lots had remained vacant
from the original subdivision plat. During upswings in the economy, these lots wre built
on. The result is a mix of older and newer houses in close proximity.
This building is a good example of the Southwest style of architecture with such
features as wood casement windows, stucco finish, and flat roofs combined with gable
roofs. This building is virtually intact with most of its original fabric. The mature
landscaping surrounding the house is typical for the neighborhood. This building provides
a positive contribution to the historic character of the neighborhood.
