This home is located in the Gage Addition, which was platted in April of 1909 by the
Tempe Land and Improvement Company. This home is an example of later infill construction
in a developed area. Many lots had remained vacant from the original subdivision plat.
During upswings in the economy, these lots wre built on. The result is a mix of older and
newer houses in close proximity. No specific historical associations could be identified
for this property.
This building provides a modest example of the Southwest style. Character-defining
elements include the stucco finish, box-like massing, and double-hung windows. Most of the
historic features remain intact and thus this building provides a positive contribution to
the historic streetscape. The dense vegetation obscuring the front facade is also typical
for this neighborhood.
