Downloading from NetLibrary

  1. Create an account
  2. Log in
  3. Search
  4. Download

 First, you will need to have a current Tempe Public Library card with  AND a PIN number to go with it.  For more information about library cards, click here or call the Check Out Desk at (480) 350-5577.

1. Create an account:
 

Click on this NetLibrary Account Link.

Select a user name and password.

Once you've created your account, you will need to log out of theNetLibrary page, then log back in -- or go back to Netlibrary later to download what you want. 

2. Log in anywhere, anytime
Once you have created an account, you can log into your library's collection from any computer with high-speed Internet access.

a. Enter your user name and password on: http://www.netlibrary.com

b. Click the log In button.

c. You now have access to all the NetLibrary downloads available in your library's collection.

3. Finding what you want:
Go to www.netlibrary.org

Basic Search lets you quickly find things by  key word author, title, or. Find Basic Search on the home page and on the right side of every page (except the Advanced Search page).

a. Enter a search term in the Basic Search field.

b. Select Keyword, Title or Author.

c. Click Search.

d. Audiobook titles will appear in your search results (along with eBooks).

Advanced Search offers multiple fields and Boolean operators.

a. Click on the Advanced Search tab located in the top navigation.

b. Use the drop-down menu to select search parameters (Title, Author, Subject, Keyword, ISBN).

c. Enter search term(s).

d. Click Search.

The Audiobooks Center, which is available by clicking on the Audiobooks Center link on your NetLibrary home page, lets you limit searches to audiobook content and browse featured titles.

Catalog Search
You can also find Downloadable Audiobooks using Tempe Public Library's catalog. If you want to limit your catalog search to downloadable Audiobooks:

a. From the TPL Catalog page, select the Advanced Search button.

b. In the Search box, enter your search term(s)--or you may enter an asterisk ( * ) to get a list of all downloadable audiobooks in the catalog.

c. Under Limit Your Search -- Material Type, select eAudiobooks from the popup menu.

d. Click Search.

4. Checkout--Download and transfer made easy
The default checkout period for a Downloadable Audiobook is three weeks. You may check out a maximum of six audiobook titles at one time. Please do not download audiobooks to public computers in your library--download at home.

a. From search results, click on the Download This Audiobook link.

b. Select a download option: CD or radio. Choose radio for dial-up; Choose CD with high-speed access if you plan to transfer to a portable device.

c. Open will download the title and launch your media player. Click the Play button to listen. Save lets you download the file to a directory. Once the download is complete, you can open the audiobook directly from your media player or use Windows Explorer.

Transfer your audiobook
Before transferring an audiobook to a portable device, you must open it at least once on your computer. You can then transfer the title to a portable device using your media player. Please refer to your media player's help section for complete details.

Renew
At any point during the checkout period, you can renew your checkout for an additional 21 days.

a. Log in.

b. Click on the My Checked Out Items link.

c. Click on the Download This Audiobook link for the title you want to renew.

d. Click on the Renew Your Checkout for 21 Days link.

If you attempt to open an expired audiobook from your media player, you will be prompted to log in to the NetLibrary Web site and renew checkout for an additional 21 days.
