Digital
Bookmobile

Thursday, March 1, 2012
10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Tempe Public Library - South Parking Lot
The Tempe Public Library offers free
downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video from your home computer using
your Tempe library card. The 74-foot long Digital Bookmobile is rolling into
Tempe to give people the opportunity to see how easy it is to download these
free library resources.
The Digital Bookmobile creates an engaging download experience around the host
library's digital media collection and 'Virtual Branch' download website. The
vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high-definition
monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players.
Interactive computer stations give visitors an opportunity to search the digital
media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks, audiobooks,
music, and video from the library.
The Digital Bookmobile is
hosted by individual public libraries in support of their download services and
is operated by OverDrive, Inc.

Bestseller
Express
Tired of the long waiting lists to get the latest bestseller?
Pick up a Bestseller Express item for fast reading!
How it Works:
- Visit the Bestseller Express display in the Media area on the main floor
of the library.
- Find the book you want to read (limited to one item at a time).
- Books are based on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Bestseller Express items are 7-day loans and cannot be renewed ($1.00
per day if overdue).
- Bestseller Express items cannot be placed on hold (checking out a
Bestseller Express item will not cancel your hold on the same title of the
regular collection).

Culture Pass Program
Art that inspires and engages,
hands-on science that excites and educates, history that brings the Valley
alive, plants and animals from here and round the world - all of this and
more are waiting for you at Scottsdale Public Library! Library cardholders
can now check out an admission for up to two people at participating
cultural institutions!
What is the Culture Pass?
The program is a partnership
between the Phoenix metro public libraries and area museums. The Culture
Pass gives cardholders free admission for 2 people at participating
organizations when they "check-out" the admission at their library.
How it Works
·
Culture
Passes are checked out at the 39 participating libraries.
·
Libraries
have a limited number of passes for each organization.
·
Passes are
available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes cannot be reserved,
renewed or requested through interlibrary loan and are valid for seven days.
·
Visitors will
select the available laminated pass from the display at the library. The
pass must be brought to the Customer service desk, they will not work at the
self check-out machines.
·
The check-out
slip serves as the entry into that destination (if you lose your slip, you
cannot receive a replacement).
·
You have one
week to use your free pass (the check-out slip gives the date it must be
used by). The venue will collect the check-out slip. You do not need to
return anything to the library. The pass will be expunged from your library
account on the date noted on your check-out slip.
·
The pass will
cover admission to the venue, but not to special events/exhibits. Some
participating organizations may have a few select dates when the pass cannot
be used. Restrictions will be listed on both the program and the venue
websites.
·
One pass may
be checked out per person or family, per loan period and a limit of two
passes per month. Must be present with library card to check out a pass.
Due to safety concerns, passes will become available through a staggered
system.
Passes will be randomly placed on the display unit throughout the week at
various times during the day.
** Many of
the destinations have their own discounts and specials, please contact them
for more information.

Popular ‘SRP Energy Analyzer
Program’ Expands to Tempe
Tempe
Public Library Offers Card Holders
Free Kill A Watt Devices to Check Out
|
  |
|
The next time Salt River Project
customers in Tempe go to the library, they are encouraged to check out
more than books. Thanks to SRP’s Energy Analyzer Program, Tempe library
patrons can borrow a free Kill A Watt meter, which will tell them how
much energy their appliances use. SRP has learned that customers who
know more about their energy usage are more likely to conserve and save
money on their monthly electric bills. By simply plugging the device
into an outlet, then plugging an appliance into the Kill A Watt meter,
the LCD display will show energy use.
Typical appliances and devices can be tested,
including refrigerators/freezers, fans, computers/printers, video gaming
systems, televisions, microwaves, clocks, stereos, lights, phone
chargers, coffee makers and other devices that plug into 120-volt AC
outlets.
After using the device, SRP customers are encouraged to fill out an Energy
Analyzer online survey
and find additional energy-saving tips and money-saving offers
at
www.savewithsrp.com.
Tempe
Public Library card holders can check out one of six Kill A Watt meters
at the main level Computer Commons help desk with an updated Tempe
Library card.
About SRP:
Salt River Project is the third-largest public power
utility in the country and serves more than 940,000 electric customers.
SRP is also the largest supplier of raw water in the greater Phoenix
metropolitan area. For more information, visit
