RIO SALADO ADVISORY COMMISSION


The Tempe Rio Salado Commission serves as an advisory panel to the City Council, other boards and commissions and city staff in matters pertaining to the Rio Salado or other projects as directed by the City Council. The commission also supports and assists in educating the public about the Rio Salado and other activities.

MISSION:
To guide the development of the Rio Salado for the betterment of current and future citizens of Tempe.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and provide input to the Tempe Rio Salado General Plan.
  • Review plans and projects that may impact the Rio Salado.
  • Serve as a forum for discussion of ideas and opportunities to enhance the Rio Salado.
  • Be an advocate for the Rio Salado both in Tempe and throughout the Valley by giving tours and presentations.
  • Advise staff and City Council on matters pertaining to the Rio Salado, including proposed developments.
  • Solicit public input, which may include holding public hearings.
  • Co-ordinate activities with other City boards and concerned groups, such as the Papago/Salado Tourism Association and Friends of Rio Salado.

MEETING SCHEDULE:
Rio Salado Advisory Commission meets every fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Rio Salado Operations Center located at 620 N. Mill Ave.
