Town Lake Park Regulations


Linear parks around Town Lake are open daily 5 a.m. to midnight unless otherwise posted. The Town Lake is open daily for public boating from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. A Town Lake boat permit is required. All boats operating on the lake at dusk or after dark are required to have lights.
 

 
 

Required park permits
Town Lake park permits are issued at the Parks & Recreation main office 3500 S. Rural Road. For permit information call (480) 350-8625.Town Lake park permits are required for the following activities and may be restricted to certain locations:

 


Water Sport activities and special events
A Special Event Permit is required for those wishing to conduct a water sport activity or special event on Tempe Town Lake. Water Sport Activity and Special Event application forms are available at www.tempe.gov/events or by calling (480) 858-2199.

Prohibited activities
The following are activities prohibited at Town Lake:

  • Swimming and wading, unless in conjunction with a special event permit
  • Voluntary entering the water from a boat or shoreline, unless connected to a special event or class
  • Windsurfing
  • Jumping or diving from Town Lake Bridges or any other structures on or around the lake
  • Pet swimming
  • Entry into posted flood control zones
