Tempe Town Lake is unlike any other property in Arizona. Nowhere else is as close to a major university, five freeways, dozens of acres of public park space and an active, urban downtown. Tempe Town Lake is a partnership between the City of Tempe, its residents and private enterprise. The vision of Town Lake is predicated upon a dynamic mix of residential, business use, recreation, and cultural development.

Several opportunities exist to build condominiums, office towers, retail plazas and hotels around Town Lake. These include South Bank, Grigio, Northshore, Onyx, Rio West, Plaza Del Rio, and Hayden Ferry Lakeside.

COMMERCIAL AND MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT (Office, Retail, & Hotel)
  South Bank
South Bank at Tempe Town LakeSouth Bank, located on the south shore of Tempe Town Lake east of Rural Road, will encompass 3.6 million square feet of retail, office, hotel, and residential space. It will include a central plaza, public parks, a lakeside boardwalk, and an iconic pier. Services such as formal and casual restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, grocery stores and specialty retail stores will be part of South Bank.
  Playa del Norte Lot 6 - Aloft Hotel & Office Building
Aloft Hotel (Starwood Hotel Brand) has opened at Tempe Town Lake as part of the Playa Del Norte Development. It is located on the north bank of Tempe Town Lake, just east of Rural Road. Based on a vision of the W Hotels, the Aloft Hotel is a very exciting urban hotel concept with modern architectural design, including “loft-like” guest rooms. The hotel is five stories tall with 136 rooms. 

Also planned in the Playa Del Norte Development is a 2 or 3 story office building located just east of the hotel consisting of approximately 28,000 square feet of office space.
  Hayden Ferry Lakeside
Hayden Ferry Lakeside master-planned development will include a hotel, approximately 350 condominiums, three high-rise office buildings, and retail components including a spa/fitness club and myriad of high-end restaurants.


In January 2009 Town Lake Development Partners, LLC and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced a hotel management agreement to bring a new 240-room Hyatt Regency hotel to the award-winning Hayden Ferry Lakeside development on the south shore of Tempe Town Lake. They expect to break ground in the summer of 2009, with the hotel slated to open in Spring 2011.
