I Can Be Safe™-Pre-teen!-480-350-5201- It’s so important for older kids to reinforce safety learning! Pre-teens will learn how to be safer and empower them to make safe choices. This class teaches about methods used by unsafe individuals, what kids should do if they’re lost or approached, about private parts and the internet. They’ll learn about choices and practice skills for their own safety in a fun manner. Parents encouraged to attend with their kids. DVD available to reinforce learning at home. Fee: $25.

“1st Pitch” Hitting Clinic-480-350-5727-The Kiwanis Park Batting Range wants to help you get your swing ready for that first pitch of the 2009 season. All boys and girls age 7-12 are invited to participate in this half-day clinic. Our fine instruction staff is eager to help you perfect your swing! Space will be limited so sign up early! Registration deadline is November 4, 2008. Fee: $60.

Batting Range Private Lessons-480-350-5727-Private lessons are available for baseball and fast-pitch softball. Lessons for hitting, pitching, and fielding are available by appointment. These may be for an individual, 2 individuals (semi-private), or for teams.  Call the Batting Range for more information.

Karate; Youth-480-350-5201-Learn the self-defense art of Hawaii Kenpo Karate from Hall of Fame Instructor Patrice Lim. This on-going program has room for belt rank advancement. Required Lim Kenpo white uniform and school patches available the first day of class for $45. Uniform, safety equipment, belt testing fees and additional supplies are required for participation and are not included in the registration fee. Babysitting Class, American Red Cross-480-350-5201-Become a prepared babysitter! In this class you’ll learn the “how to’s” of properly caring for small children. Medieval Castles-480-350-5201-The middle ages were a time of knighthood, castles, and wide open countryside.  Archeologists are still unearthing buried treasures.  Students will dig the ruins of a medieval castle and uncover replicas of an armorial seal, a coin, heraldic pendant, and an arrowhead.  It’s fun to excavate, study, and display your findings. With the castle dig molding tray and the sand you dug at, you can create a castle tower and a gargoyle.  Required supply fee: $41. New! Roller Coasters-Big Ball Factory & Amusement Park Rides-480-350-5201- Set balls in motion to climb a 3100 piece, 5 ft. Kinex Maze Tower, which we will build.  Watch them travel down a vertical chute, incline plane, pivot arms, levers, a helical spiral, and a ladder. Build a working 6’ x 5’ Roller Coaster and see coaster cars travel steep inclines, and thrilling loops. Students will learn first hand the mechanism of a Roller Coaster.  Required supply fee: $28.
