I Can Be Safe™-Pre-teen!-480-350-5201- It’s so important for older kids to reinforce safety learning! Pre-teens will learn how to be safer and empower them to make safe choices. This class teaches about methods used by unsafe individuals, what kids should do if they’re lost or approached, about private parts and the internet. They’ll learn about choices and practice skills for their own safety in a fun manner. Parents encouraged to attend with their kids. DVD available to reinforce learning at home. Fee: $25.

New! Basic Etiquette-480-350-5201-Does your child know which side of the plate they should place the fork? How to properly set a place setting? Do they know how to answer the telephone properly? In this class, we will learn basic etiquette that every child should know. Required supply fee: $15. Fee: $18.

Baseball Hitting Group Lessons-480-350-5727-Four, 1-hour lessons in groups of 5-8 boys and girls age 7-12. Fee: $48

Baseball Pitching Group Lessons-480-350-5727-Four, 1-hour lessons in groups of 4-6 boys and girls age 7-12. Fee: $48

“1st Pitch” Hitting Clinic-480-350-5727-The Kiwanis Park Batting Range wants to help you get your swing ready for that first pitch of the 2009 season. All boys and girls age 7-12 are invited to participate in this half-day clinic. Our fine instruction staff is eager to help you perfect your swing! Space will be limited so sign up early! Registration deadline is November 4, 2008. Fee: $60.

Batting Range Private Lessons-480-350-5727-Private lessons are available for baseball and fast-pitch softball. Lessons for hitting, pitching, and fielding are available by appointment. These may be for an individual, 2 individuals (semi-private), or for teams.  Call the Batting Range for more information.

Tumbling for Kids-480-350-5201-Stay healthy and fit by increasing flexibility, improving coordination, heightening concentration and building self-esteem. Learn front/back rolls, cartwheels, handstands, backbends and front/back walkovers. 6 week class. *No class 9/1/08.

Karate; Youth-480-350-5201-Learn the self-defense art of Hawaii Kenpo Karate from Hall of Fame Instructor Patrice Lim. This on-going program has room for belt rank advancement. Required Lim Kenpo white uniform and school patches available the first day of class for $45. Uniform, safety equipment, belt testing fees and additional supplies are required for participation and are not included in the registration fee. New student orientation at 4:30pm on first day of class. *No class on 11/11 or 11/27. Fee: $50 except for #13114 which is $25.

Babysitting Class, American Red Cross-480-350-5201-Become a prepared babysitter! In this class you’ll learn the “how to’s” of properly caring for small children. Topics covered include accident prevention, feeding and dressing and what to do for breathing emergencies. Bring a non-perishable sack lunch. Required Supply Fee: $22. Class Fee: $29.

Cooking for Kids: Halloween Cookie & Cake Decorating-480-350-5201-Each child will have fun decorating Halloween themed cookies, spider cupcakes and a small jack o’lantern cake. There will be plenty of cookies and cupcakes to eat during class or to share with your family members. Required supply fee: $15. Fee: $18.

New! Cooking for Kids: Halloween Gingerbread Houses-480-350-5201-Each child will put together and decorate a scary Halloween mansion. A Gingerbread House kit will be provided, along with frosting and plenty of candy to decorate their house. Family members (older sibling/parents) may stay to help if they would like. Cooking for Kids: Thanksgiving Main Entree-480-350-5201- This class will feature a “new twist” on Thanksgiving! Kids will prepare turkey tortilla wraps, cranberry salad and a yummy pumpkin dessert. Required supply fee: $15. Fee: $18.

Medieval Castles-480-350-5201-The middle ages were a time of knighthood, castles, and wide open countryside.  Archeologists are still unearthing buried treasures.  Students will dig the ruins of a medieval castle and uncover replicas of an armorial seal, a coin, heraldic pendant, and an arrowhead.  It’s fun to excavate, study, and display your findings. With the castle dig molding tray and the sand you dug at, you can create a castle tower and a gargoyle.  Required supply fee: $41. Model Airplanes-Bridge Building-Electronic Gadgets-480-350-5201- Build your own rubber-powered model airplane.  Use your model as a learning tool in aerospace education, or just have fun building a sound airplane that actually flies when assembled.  Join us in our bridge building contest to see which one can hold the most weight.  Learn simple engineering skills.  Build 6 electronic projects including a patrol car siren, burglar alarm and Morse code transmitter.  Required supply fee: $41. Prospectors Mystery Rock-480-350-5201- This workshop will have students excavating for valuable gems, fascinating rocks, and some ancient fossils. Each participant will get an excavation tool, specimen brush, log book, sorting trays and labels to assist them in making educated guesses to whether each one is a rock, gem, or fossil. Required supply fee: $41. Fee: $109.

New! Roller Coasters-Big Ball Factory & Amusement Park Rides-480-350-5201- Set balls in motion to climb a 3100 piece, 5 ft. Kinex Maze Tower, which we will build.  Watch them travel down a vertical chute, incline plane, pivot arms, levers, a helical spiral, and a ladder. Build a working 6’ x 5’ Roller Coaster and see coaster cars travel steep inclines, and thrilling loops. Students will learn first hand the mechanism of a Roller Coaster.  Required supply fee: $28. Roly Poly Robotics Workshop-480-350-5201- Roly Poly Robot will tumble, fumble, stumble but will find a way to right itself up.  The moment you turn it on, it will speed away on its two amazing cyclonic wheels.  Students will build it and take it home, and learn how it works.  Design robots for a Tug-of-War - Sumo Wrestling - Tractor Pull and other fun things.
