- Program Hours:
- Afternoon: 2:00-6 p.m. with either Wednesday or
Friday Early Release once a week from 12:30-6 p.m.
- Summer: 6:30am-12:45pm or 11:45am-6pm, 9am-6pm or
8am-5pm
- Additional
Information:
- School Year: All schools have either a
Wednesday or Friday early release once a week.
- Some paid evening trainings required.
- Rate of Pay:
- 5 days a week = $11.05/hour.
- 3 - 4 days a week only or not available for at
least one early release day = $9.95 hour.
- Experience and Training:
- Good knowledge of teaching methods and procedures
including ability to plan, organize and teach nutrition and/or physical
activity.
- Must have a positive personality and strong
child management skills.
- Good speaking and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children,
families, coworkers, and Community Services Department staff.
- Education or strong interest in nutrition and/or
physical activity is highly desirable.
- Must meet AZ Department of Health Services Child
Day Care Center Teacher-Caregiver requirements.
- Requires successful completion of required
selection process, successful completion of background investigation
and verification of identity and work authorization.
- Essential Job
Functions (completed under the supervision of the
Community Education Coordinator):
- Planning, organizing, and teaching a nutrition
and/or physical activity instructional class to as many as 20
children in grades K-5 at a time.
- Working with and implementing Nutrition Network
Grant objectives by organizing and teaching nutrition and physical
fitness lessons at 11 after-school programs.
- Developing and implementing nutrition and/or
physical activity plans prior to the start of each instructor
session.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with children,
parents, school staff and other community members.
- Maintain discipline, safety and control of class
participants.
- Maintain an environment which promotes cooperation, learning and
enjoyment.
- Encourage high participation of students and
track attendance of each class.
- Assist Program Manager and the site staff in
their implementation of on going nutrition
and physical activity education at each site.
- Requirements:
- Submit name, complete addresses and phone numbers of six references.
- Submit proof of negative TB/Tine test and MMR Immunization or
inoculation.
- Must undergo fingerprint check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must attain Food Service Worker Card upon hire
(prior to working at sites).
- Must be CPR/ 1st Aid certified within 30 days of hire.
- Must attend our paid new employee orientation and trainings
(prior to working at sites).
- Nutrition Program provides 2 staff shirts to
instructors. More shirts may be purchased upon hire.
