The Summer Program is open from 6:30 am. to 6.00 p.m. at following selected school sites in the City of Tempe:  Aguilar, Arredondo, Carminati, Evans, Manitas, Mariposa, Norte, Waggoner***, Ward.

*** Waggoner's last day of Summer Programming is July 18th.

Each site will incorporate age-appropriate clubs, community service projects, nutrition/ fitness education, crafts, sports, games and all the things that make childhood a time full of happy memories.

Kid Zone is offered at a variety of schools strategically placed throughout the City for children entering grades 1 through 6 in the fall. Kid Zone provides a safe, licensed DHS setting, while still providing entertaining recreational activities. The Summer Program includes morning and afternoon snacks and formal enrichment instruction in science, literacy and various skills. Most weeks, participants go swimming and enjoy a field trip to a variety of locations that are educational and fun.

Holiday Closure: All Kid Zone sites will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of our Nation's birthday!

Field Trips

Children will participate in swimming and other various field trips throughout the summer. School buses are used to transport participants to all off-site field trips. Buses for field trips leave promptly at the designed time. Children are required to wear Kid Zone name badges on all scheduled field trips.

Swimming and Sun Safety

General recreational swimming is provided at one of the City pools. Children should have swimming suit, towel, and sunscreen on swimming day. Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen to their child before coming to the site each day. Parents should also provide caps, sunglasses, light t-shirts and labeled water bottles to protect their children from sun exposure. We encourage parents to label belongings to ensure children do not misplace their belongings.

Lunch & Snack

Children are required to bring a non-perishable lunch and drink everyday. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available. Lunches can be packed in mini-coolers. Kid Zone provides a morning and afternoon snack each day.
