
SUMMARY: Under general direction, directs and supervises the administrative, promotional, maintenance and operational activities of the Yuma Civic and Convention Center and Sports Complex.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
_ Oversees and manages the daily operations and functions of the Yuma Civic and Convention Center (YCCC) and Sports Complex;
_ Directs, prioritizes, schedules, assigns, trains and evaluates assigned staff in administrative, promotional, maintenance and operational activities;
_ Develops, prepares and administers the annual budget for the YCCC and associated facilities;
_ Organizes and controls bookings and negotiates major contracts;
_ Oversees and supervises the preparation of contracts, billing and collection activities;
_ Reviews event schedules at assigned facilities and ensures client contract requirements for each event are met;
_ Meets with clients on requests for services, evaluation of services provides and recommendations for service improvements;
_ Reviews, signs or oversees contracts for facilities, caterers and custodial providers;
_ Develops, implements, revises and enforces standard operating policies and procedures to ensure safety and security for clients, public and staff;
_ Meets with custodial contractor representative to inspect facility sites and meets with site managers to provide feedback on services provided;
_ Attends meetings with Sports Commission, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Parks and Recreation, Golf Course and Baseball Complex staff to share information and promote YCCC and upcoming events;
_ Resolves complex problems encountered in performance of work assignments;
_ Performs other related duties as assigned.

_ Federal, State and City public events, accommodations and facilities laws, rules, regulations, guidelines codes and ordinances;
_ public relations and marketing practices, principles and methods;
_ management and administration practices, principles and procedures;
_ building maintenance, security, and safety practices and procedures;
_ organization, coordination and management of public events and assemblies;
_ contract preparation and negotiation related to entertainment venues, security, custodial, catering, and guest services;
_ box office operation practices and procedures;
_ educational methods and techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Vision is required to perform and monitor essential functions, and to complete data entry. Occasional standing, bending, and stooping and driving involved. Work is performed in an office environment. Requires the use of a City vehicle on City business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field, and seven (7) years' Convention Center, Arena, or Stadium management experience or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities. Must obtain Public Assembly Facilities Management Certification within 2 years of employment. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: An employee in this class is required to live within fifteen (15) miles of the City limits, and within the United States.
