AUTO THEFT

The Auto Theft Unit investigates thefts of vehicles.  A detective from the Tempe Police Department is assigned to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Auto Theft Task Force.

The Crime Prevention Unit advises levels of protection to help prevent the theft of your vehicle.

The Arizona Auto Theft Authority administers auto theft prevention programs.  

The Arizona Auto Theft Investigator's Association (AATIA) provides training and information to help stop auto theft.     

STOLEN VEHICLE REPORTS

If the stolen vehicle report was taken over the phone an affidavit must be filled out and returned to:

within seven (7) days of the report being filed. The reporting party’s signature must be notarized. The reported stolen vehicle will be removed from the stolen vehicle database(s) if this affidavit is not received by the

Tempe Police Department within thirty (30) days of the report being filed.
