The Investigations Division is made up of the Central City Bureau, Homeland Defense Bureau, Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Special Investigations Bureau.  Each Bureau has a unique and separate function with the Tempe Police Department.

Homeland Defense  
 
The mission of the Tempe Police Department Homeland Defense Bureau is to ensure the safety and security of the City's critical infrastructure against natural and man-made incidents.  This will be accomplished through pre-incident preparation and by utilizing partnerships made with various law enforcement agencies and private business.
 
Criminal Investigations  
 
Criminal Investigations is made up of seven details that handle a variety of cases.  These responsibilities include the in-depth investigation of financial, property, homicide / missing persons crimes, sex offender notification, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), assault / domestic violence / auto theft, robbery and pawnshop activity.  The Criminal Investigations Bureau also serves as liaison with the County Attorney's Office, FBI, and other outside law enforcement agencies.
