Tempe’s General Plan provides a view of what the City of Tempe will look like and function as a community in 2040. The planned growth of residents and businesses will create Tempe as the regional leader of urban living, and be the kind of place you spend a lifetime.

Although Tempe is expected to grow by more than 55,000 new residents and to add nearly 75,000 new jobs , this growth will be accommodated within Tempe, but more importantly than numeric change is Tempe’s ability to serve as the leader in high-quality urban living. Tempe residents, business representatives and other community members are being asked evaluate General Plan 2040 and provide feedback to help shape the future of our community. Two public meetings will be held:
• Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m.

Meetings will include a short presentation and group activity for those attending. The same information will be presented at both meetings. It will be important to review the preliminary General Plan is available online at www.tempe.gov/gp2040, or copies can be reviewed at the Tempe Public Library and City Hall-Community Development. You can visit the website or attend one of the meetings to provide your comments. It’s important to hear from all residents, businesses and property owners about their thoughts and opinions on Tempe’s future. Public comments on General Plan 2040 will continue to be accepted through September.
