On Nov. 11 Southwest Institute of Healing Arts will be hosting a Special Meditation for Veterans at 5:30pm under the open sky on our beautiful greenbelt at Spirit of Yoga in Tempe. This is open to veterans as well as the general public and is complimentary. Leading the meditation will be one of our yoga teachers who is himself a veteran. For details I have attached a .jpg file of a flyer that is good for posting online or sharing, and for a better option if you would like to print it out and post it up anywhere, here is a .pdf for a cleaner printed flyer: http://www.swiha.edu/print/soy-specialveteransmeditation.pdf
In addition, that entire week—Nov. 11-17 all of our studio yoga classes at Spirit of Yoga (excluding the “Off the Wall’ class) are complimentary to all veterans with ID. Our restorative class and our Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation/meditation) classes are very therapeutic. Finally, during the entire month of November we are supporting military veterans by raising funds for the Give Back Yoga Foundation program to send complimentary Yoga Toolkits for Veterans to every vet who requests one. This campaign is in partnership with the Sedona Yoga Festival 2014 coming up in February.
Looking ahead, we have added a Yoga Teacher Training class to our course offerings that is specifically for veterans only. This course begins in January and is for active or retired military personnel who feel called to train to become yoga teachers themselves.
