The Library Advisory Board advises the City Council and assists the Community Services Director in the following: 1) establishment of essential policies, rules and regulations relating to the planning, acquisition, disposition, operation, use, care and maintenance of library structures; 2) establishment of policies, rules and regulations relating to the acquisition, conservation and use of library materials; 3) development of a continuing plan for the City’s Library Program; 4) establishment of budget priorities for non-administrative functions relating to Library Policy; and 5) receipt, acceptance and acquisition, subject to final action by the City Council, by gift, bequest or devise real and personal property of every kind, nature and description in the name of the City for library purposes.
The Library Advisory Board is composed of nine (9) members. The members of the Library Advisory Board are Tempe residents who serve three-year terms. Meetings are usually held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., in the Tempe Public Library, 3500 South Rural Road, Tempe. (City Code, Chapter 2, Article V, Division 18)
