The Library Advisory Board advises the City Council and assists the Community Services Manager in the establishment of policies, rules and regulations relating to the planning, acquisition, disposition, operation, use, care and maintenance of library structures; in the establishment of policies, rules and regulations relating to the acquisition, conservation and use of library materials; in the development of a continuing plan for the City's library program; in the establishment of budget priorities for non-administrative activities relating to library policy; and in acceptance by gift, bequest or other devise of real or personal property in the name of the City for library purposes. (City Code Chapter 2, Art. V, Div. 18)

The Library Advisory Board is composed of nine (9) members. The members of the Library Advisory Board are Tempe residents who serve three-year terms. Meetings are usually held the first Wednesday of each month in the Library Board Room, 3500 South Rural Road, at 6:00 p.m.
