The Aviation Commission advises the Mayor and City Council and assists City departments on matters related to the impact of aircraft and airport operations on Tempe residents; on the monitoring, implementation and enforcement of agreements made between the City of Phoenix and Tempe concerning the operations of Sky Harbor Airport; on studies conducted of local airports and their potential impact on Tempe residents; on land use measures that could mitigate the impact of aircraft and airport operations. Eleven (11) citizens serve on the Aviation Commission. Members must be Tempe residents from neighborhoods located in the LDN 65 noise contour and from other noise impacted geographic areas of the community. The terms are for three years. The Commission typically meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Works Conference Room, 31st. Fifth Street.
