On Wednesday, November 20, 2013 Tempe Police arrested 34 year-old William Shupe after he entered the victim’s garage and stole a high dollar bicycle. After hearing noises in the garage the victim went to look, at which time Shupe was observed riding the victim’s bicycle away. Although the bicycle was chained Shupe used a pair of bolt cutters to cut the chain.

Immediately after the burglary the victim called police and began an e-mail chain that had been previously put together as part of their neighborhood watch for moments like this. With a quick response by patrol officers and the quick neighborhood reaction Shupe was located nearby and arrested for burglary.

This neighborhood is a great example of a neighborhood watch as they were emailing each other during the incident to watch for the suspect.
