TEMPE, Ariz – Tempe Talks, A Diversity Dialogue Program, is seeking teen applicants to participate in a series of meetings which will foster community dialogue about diversity issues, cultural tolerance, inclusion and to share life experiences and perceptions.

The Diversity Dialogue Program is a collaboration of the Tempe Human Relations Commission, the City of Tempe Diversity Office, and the Tempe Union High School District. The program is designed to foster community dialogues among teens in Tempe in which issues of diversity are discussed. Out of the dialogues will come a better understanding of self, community and ways in which to improve the climate for diversity in Tempe.

During the six weekly discussion sessions, groups are led by trained volunteer facilitators in discussions of diversity issues. Benefits of participation include meeting a diverse group of high school students, the chance to learn about other teens through the sharing of personal experiences, and upon completion receiving a community service certificate.

The Diversity Dialogues will meet on six consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:45 p.m. at the Tempe Public Library, lower level meeting room A. The dates are September 17, 24, October 1, 8, 15, and 22.  Participants must commit to attend all six sessions. Food and drinks are provided and there is no cost to participate.

Online registration is available at http://www.tempe.gov/index.aspx?page=2228.  For more information call the City of Tempe Diversity Office at 480/350-8979.
