Arbor Day 5K aims to replenish Tempe’s urban forest

TEMPE, Ariz. – The City of Tempe is providing a unique opportunity for businesses, residents and runners to get involved in the Trees for Tempe program with the fourth annual Arbor Day 5K.

The Arbor Day 5K, presented by SRP Earthwise, will be held at 6:15 p.m. at Giuliano Park at Tempe Town Lake on Friday, April 26. All proceeds will go to the Trees for Tempe program to help revitalize Tempe’s urban forest. Since the inaugural Arbor Day 5K in 2010, more than $30,000 has been raised for the Trees for Tempe program.

The 5K course is a single loop around Tempe Town Lake and will be chip timed. Advance registration is $20 and includes a commemorative Arbor Day 5K T-shirt.

Activities include an event expo, beginning at 4 p.m., and a free Kids Dash for children 10 and under, beginning at 6 p.m.
