Posted Date: 2/27/2013

On Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2013 at approximately 4:03 PM Tempe Police received a call stating that a bicyclist had seen a dead body floating in the western canal just east of Priest Dr. When police and fire arrived on scene they located a deceased subject floating in the water. The Tempe Fire Dive Team assisted in pulling the body out of the water. The subject did not have any type of ID on his person to assist in identifying him.

The subject is described as a black male, late 20’s to late 30’s, medium build, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes with black designs and no tattoos.

The deceased subject was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. At this time the subject has not been identified and the Tempe Police Department is now asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him with the attached composite sketch.

There is no sign of foul play and this is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is requested to call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
