The City of Tempe will adopt its final property tax levy for Fiscal Year 2012-13 at a public hearing scheduled to be held on June 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 31 East Fifth Street. The final property tax levy amount may be increased over the approved property tax levy for Fiscal Year 2011-12. Additional information is located under the June 14th and June 28th council dates (see below) or by contacting the City of Tempe Finance and Technology Department at 480-350-8350.

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages one to fourteen in the United States. The Kiwanis Recreation Center (KRC) encourages parents to teach their children to swim by 5 years of age to reduce these risks.

As the temperature in the Valley continues to rise, the Tempe Fire Department wants to remind the community never to leave a child or animal in a vehicle unattended. Heat stroke can quickly set in as the interior of the vehicle heats up, which could lead to a tragic situation.

This summer, cool-off and hit the waves at Kiwanis Park’s indoor wave pool, located at 6111 S. All-America Way in Tempe. The wave pool is open daily starting Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, from 1-5 p.m. On Saturdays in the month of June, the wave pool will host double the waves from noon-3 p.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m. That means double the fun for you and your family!
