How Tempe Businesses Can Get Involved in Geek Week
The City of Tempe and the
Arizona SciTech Festival are once again partnering to celebrate the impact that science has on our daily lives – and on our community. This year, the
Tempe Chamber of Commerce is joining in to show how science is vital to businesses.
About one in five Tempe businesses is technology-based. In hopes of continuing to grow our qualified workforce, the City of Tempe is hosting Geek Week and Geeks’ Night Out from Feb. 15 – 24, with a featured evening Third Thursday celebration on Mill Avenue near Tempe City Hall on Feb. 21 from 5 -10 p.m.
In Tempe, we think science is fun. Geeks’ Night Out is our ode to science, science fiction, pop culture, technology, math and more. Last year, about 3,000 people participated in the fun, which ranged from a LaunchSpot and ASU Venture Catalyst Rapid Pitch event for aspiring businesses, a Success Panel of some of the brightest tech CEOs, a Phoenix Comicon costume contest, graphic novel signings, sci fi book readings, music, booths and more.
Take a look at some of the fun we have lined up this year.
This year, we’ve extended the fun to the entire week and your business is invited to join in. There’s science in practically everything we do. If you would like to open your door to the public to show how you use science, technology, mathematics or engineering in your work, the City of Tempe would like to list your company in our Geek Week directory.
