Looking for a few good Men and Women age 50+
to help change a child’s life
The City of Tempe Social Services Division is host to AARP Experience Corps, a nationally recognized literacy program. Join a corps of more than 2,000 volunteers age 50+ in 19 cities nationwide who are making a significant impact in their communities. Volunteers provide one-on-one reading tutoring to struggling students in first through third grade during the school day. Experience Corps volunteers currently work in seven Tempe elementary schools.
Volunteers do not need special skills, just a willingness to share their experience, time and patience. Comprehensive training, excellent support services and an orientation are provided. Volunteers need to be able to commit to 4 hours per week for an entire school year. For more information, call Rebecca Bond at (480) 858-2464 or email at Rebecca_bond@tempe.gov.
