Lunch Programs
Check the current Roadrunner Chronicle to see what is planned for the upcoming Thursday lunches, including presentations, entertainment and activities.
The Pyle Thursday Lunch Program begins at 11:30 a.m. (unless otherwise noted) and is followed by a meal and then entertainment or activities. Advance registration is required and you may register for the entire month. Payment in full is required by the Thursday prior to the program.
You can register for the Thursday lunches two ways:
• online (you will need the registration code which can be found in the Roadrunner Chronicle) OR
• stop by the Pyle Center front desk to register in person.
Advance registration and payment is required by the Tuesday prior to the Thursday program.

Benefits Assistance Program
Offered by the Area Agency on Aging, this program provides objective information about insurance and benefits to seniors, the disabled, and caregivers.
A trained Benefits volunteer will be available on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Services include:
- Assistance with organizing Medicare and Supplemental claims information to ensure that all benefits are paid and obligations to providers are satisfied.
- Basic information on applying for Social Security, Medicare and SSI.
- Up-to-date information and assistance on Medicare Part D prescription drug program.
- Information regarding HMOs, managed care, Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap) and options under Medicare.
- Assistance with Medicare appeals and resolving problems.
Walk-ins only – no appointment necessary.
BINGO
Join us for a fun game of bingo every Wednesday. Cards are 50¢ each with a maximum of 6 cards. Doors open at 12:15 p.m. and the games begin at 1:00 p.m. You must arrive before 1:00 p.m. to play – late arrivals are not allowed to play.

Retirees of Tempe Advisory Group (RTA)
The Retirees of Tempe Advisory Group is a group sponsored by the City of Tempe Parks and Recreation Department and Pyle Adult Recreation Center. The RTA’s purpose is to advise and assist Pyle staff regarding programs and events for those 50 years and older, and to provide a participant's perspective and make recommendations to improve operations and customer service delivery of programs for those 50-plus.
RTA membership provides the member with special discounts on lunches and discounts on other special events and activities. RTA members also receive early notifications of upcoming programs and activities.
Any RTA member is welcome to attend the RTA meetings held on the first Monday of the month* at 10:00 a.m. at Pyle Adult Recreation Center.
RTA membership is $5.00 for one year (January through December).
*The RTA does not meet during the months of June, July, and August.
Needlewielders
The Needlewielders are an energetic and creative group, ages 50 and better, that meets each week to make items for donation to local hospitals and charities. If you have some time and love to sew, crochet and knit, please come join the fun and make a difference in your community!
Meetings are:
Tuesdays, 9:00 am–1:00 pm & Thursdays, 9:00 am–1:00 pm, at Pyle Adult Recreation Center
The Needlewielders happily accept donations from the community of items with which they can make their creations. They can use baby yarn, acrylic yarn, 100% cotton yarn, elastic, polyester stuffing and batting, cotton and cotton blend fabric, crochet hooks and scissors.
Pyle Book Club
The club meets the last Friday of each month – 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. All retirees are invited to join the book club. Each month the club reads a different book and then meets to discuss it. Group members provide their own copies of the books. There is no fee for this club, however advanced registration is required. Please register at the Front Desk of the Pyle Center.
Bunch for Lunch
This is a fun group for anyone who enjoys good food and good company! Transportation & cost of lunch is your own. Please call Pyle's front desk, 480.350.5211 or stop by and sign up if you would like to attend. Check the Roadrunner Chronicle for this month's date, time and location.
Current Events Discussion Group
Join this group for a lively discussion on current events in the world and in your community! Group meets on Thursdays, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Looney Tooners Kitchen Band
The Looney Tooners are a fun-loving group of people who love to perform in a unique way. They play kitchen "musical instruments" as well as other musical instruments and they are always welcoming new members. They rehearse every Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Pyle Adult Center and perform at a number of locations throughout the Phoenix area. Call the Pyle Center for more information at 480-350-5211.
Senior Songbirds
Do you like to sing and would you like to join a musical group? Then the Senior Songbirds want YOU! No auditions and all are welcome. The Songbirds rehearse at the Pyle Adult Center every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. They perform two to three times a month at various community centers, nursing homes and assisted living centers. If you're looking for a good time with a great group of people, this is the group for you. Call the Pyle Center for more information: 480-350-5211.

Card and game groups meet at different days and times throughout the week at Pyle. Call for more information or check out our calendar online in this month's Roadrunner.

- Cribbage, Mondays 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Mah Jongg, Wednesdays (advanced) 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. & Thursdays (beginning, intermediate) 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
- Party Bridge, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Pinochle, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. & Fridays 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
- Scrabble, Mondays 12:30 to 5:00 p.m.
- Poker 101, Learn to play poker on Tuesdays, 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Movies
Free movies on Tuesdays and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. New releases on Tuesdays and classic movies on Fridays. See the Roadrunner for this month’s movie selections.
Painting Workshop
Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Fridays, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The painting workshop is for currently registered participants in Pyle art classes.
Ping Pong and Nintendo Wii
Ping Pong and Nintendo Wii are available for play Tuesdays and Fridays 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. (first Fridays of the month 8:30-9:45 a.m.) and 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. and Mondays, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Sewing Workshop
Fridays 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The sewing workshop is for any current RTA member who likes to sew, knit, crochet and socialize.
