Project Connect is a national, best-practice model that brings together diverse community resources and services for one day, under one roof to provide immediate services to homeless individuals and families. As part of its efforts to effectively address homelessness, the City of Tempe hosts two Project Connect events annually.
Services typically provided at Project Connect include:
- Arizona Department of Economic Security
- Social Security
- Access to valid forms of Identification
- Veteran's Services
- Youth Services
- Shelters and Transitional Living Programs
- Health-care checks
- Behavioral Health Services
- Pro-bono legal consultations
- Substance Abuse Services
- City of Tempe Courts
- Clothing and Toiletry Items
- Showers and Haircuts
- Breakfast and Lunch
Project Connect always needs volunteers! Each guest who arrives at the event for services is paired with a community volunteer who accompanies them through the array of available services. Volunteer orientation and training are provided the day of the event. For more information, contact Theresa James, City of Tempe Homeless Coordinator at 480-858-2360 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next Project Connect in Tempe will be on Thursday, December 13 at the Sun Valley Tempe Campus, 6101 S. River, Tempe, AZ 85283.
Valley of the Sun United Way (VSUW) is a key partner in Tempe's efforts to end homelessness. VSUW sponsors a Project Connect event every month in different cities throughout Maricopa County. For more information including the 2012 Regional Project Connect Schedule, visit http://www.vsuw.org
