Tempe Dedication Represents
Commitment to Preserving Open Space

Tempe, Ariz. – The City of Tempe will hold a public dedication of the Eisendrath property, which includes the family’s historic home, at 4:30 p.m. on May 15, 2002. The property is located at 1400 N. College Avenue.

Those wishing to attend the brief ceremony are asked to park at The Arizona Historical Society Museum, 1300 N. College (immediately south of the Eisendrath property) and ride a complimentary shuttle to the event.

“This property is a valuable addition to Papago Park and preserves more than 9 acres of open space in north Tempe,” Tempe Mayor Neil Giuliano said. “Additionally, the trade/purchase agreement provides for the development of 18 acres of vacant land along Rio Salado Parkway, near Town Lake.”

The agreement between the city and the Eisendrath property owners involves a transfer of 18 acres of city property to the Eisendrath owners. Six acres of the city property was swapped in exchange for the Eisendrath property and the Eisendrath owners purchased the remaining 12 acres of the city property.

The city property transferred was formerly the proposed site for a water reclamation facility and is located between Priest and Hardy drives, south of Rio Salado Parkway. The escrow closed on April 1, 2002.
