Fire Hydrants
In order to provide efficient fire protection for you and your
neighbors the Tempe Fire Department rely on an easily found and accessible fire
hydrants for water supply. Finding and accessing these hydrants in the
event of an emergency is critical and can mean the difference between a little
or a lot of property loss.
Your assistance is need in keeping the hydrants clear of
obstacles.
Obstruction:
There needs to be a
three (3) foot clearance around the hydrant of any debris and obstructions. Keep
grass, bushes, fencing, tree branches, weeds or other obstacles away from the
hydrant to allow for rapid location and easy access for firefighters.
Parking:
Don't block a fire hydrant by parking a vehicle next
to it. Vehicles cannot be parked any closer than 15 feet to a fire hydrant from
any direction.
Leaking or Broken Hydrants:
If you find a fire hydrant that is leaking, broken, or
malfunctioning you should report it to the City of Tempe's Water Department at
(480) 350-8207.
