Cliff Jones, has been a member of the Tempe Fire Department for over 35 years and has been the Fire Chief for the past 18 years.
His education background includes an Associate of Arts Degree in fire Science from Phoenix College, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University.  In 1999, Chief Jones was selected for an attended Harvard University's Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
 
In 1997, he was selected as Career Fire Chief of the Year in the United States by Fire Chief Magazine.
 
He serves as an instructor in the Arizona State University Fire Service Management Program in the areas of Leadership, Program Management and Fire Service Administration.
 
Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) which is headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia.
 
Professional and civic memberships include the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Institution of Fire Engineers - United States of America Branch, the City of Tempe Professional Development Club and the Tempe South Rotary Club.
