The City of Tempe has a comprehensive program of regularly scheduled preventive
maintenance ( fog seals, slurry seals, micro seals, etc.) to maintain and extend the
serviceable life of this system. This program has an annual average cost of 2.2 million
dollars. The City of Tempe invests an additional $800,000 per year, on average, to replace
pavement that is nearing the end of its economic life cycle.
