Councilmember P. Ben Arredondo

P. Ben Arredondo is serving his fourth term as a Tempe City Councilmember after being re-elected in March 2006 . He was selected by the Council to serve as the Vice Mayor from July 1998 through June 2000. Mr. Arredondo is the chair of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee, serves on the Tourism and Recreation Committee and the Central City Development Committee of the Whole. 

 Mr. Arredondo is a high school teacher and former member of the Tempe Elementary School District Governing Board. He also served as the Executive Director of the Governor's Council on Health, Physical Fitness and Sport. He has served as the Maricopa County Supervisor for District 5 and is a member of the Tempe Community Council. He received the Arizona State University College of Education Distinguished Achievement Award in 1993.

Mr. Arredondo is a board member on the Community and Economic Development Committee and the Hispanic Elected Local Official's Committee. He received the prestigious 2004 Community Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens. He is a member of the Youth, Education and Families Committee for the National League of Cities.
