  • Creation of the Tardeada Advisory Board
  • Creation of the Race Neutral Diversity Supplier Program
  • Creation of the City-wide Recruitment Committee
  • Creation of the City-wide ADA Task Force Committee
  • Creation of the City of Tempe Mentoring Program
  • Creation of the Employee Task Group on Women's Issues
  • Creation of the Employee Task Group on Multicultural Issues
  • National League of Cities Diversity Award
  • AZSHRM (Arizona Society for Human Resource Management) Workforce Diversity Award
  • Strategic Plan Developed and Approved by Mayor and Council
  • Creation of "WHO'S Your Neighbor?" Brown Bag Lecture Series
  • Cesar Chavez Community Conversation
  • Hosted the first East Valley Regional MLK Unity Walk
  • Diversity Office officially established as a city department
  • Establishment of the Safe Haven.
  • Creation of the Tempe Supervisors' Council - Final Piece to the Five Sided Partnership.
  • Established a Diversity Section for the City of Tempe Rules and Regulations.
  • Coordination of the Diversity Steering Committee and Diversity Action Plan.
  • Successful coordination of the 2003 MLK Diversity Awards Brunch and Festival, resulting in a stronger community oriented event while being fiscally responsible to our constituents with a substantial cost savings.
  • Creation of the Diversity Website for improved exchange of information.
  • Successful completion of the 2003 Diversity Dialogue Program with an increase in City of Tempe employee participation and an increase in representation from a neighboring corporation and the Town of Gilbert.
  • Cesar Chavez Recognition in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.
  • Tempe Talks: A Community Conversation. Fishbowl panel discussion on sexual orientation.
  • Spearheading the first East Valley Regional MLK event.
